Photo by / . The rugged beauty of Norway was on display today on top of Ulriken - the highest of the seven mountains that surround Bergen. Cross country skiers had either climbed or taken the gondola to the top. There was an ice-cold, blustery wind which made our icy descent difficult with our two little boys. Luckily once we got lower, Nikolaj sat down and slid all the way to the bottom.

Photo by | It was disconcerting and disappointing, and perhaps not surprising, that President Donald Trump dismissed Haiti (and all of Africa) as a “shithole” on the eve of the 8th anniversary of that country’s devastating 2010 earthquake. The danger of this rhetoric is that it transforms people stuck in shithole situations into shithole people. Regarding Haiti in particular, did you know the country was occupied by the United States military from 1915-1934? Or that the US supported the violent Duvalier dictatorships from 1957 to 1986? That the US forced Haiti to accept low-priced American rice exports in 1994, putting tens of thousands of farmers out of business? That former populist Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide says he was kidnapped by US forces in a 2004 coup? That much of the aid pledged for earthquake recovery was delivered late or not at all? Haiti has many problems, but you’d be hard pressed to argue that they are the fault of ordinary Haitians, some of whom are my very close friends.

On November 22, Golnik and her husband were attacked leaving the court building. The second picture is what she posted to her own Facebook page following the attack.

Photo by / Link on my profile 👆🏾 International Day of the Girl⭐️ Empower Girls !!! Educating girls is key to breaking cycles of teen pregnancy. In my own experience working in this issue about teenage pregnancy in Latin America one of the keys is the education. The visibility of this issue and the implementation of medium and long term measures are essential to generate a change. More work is needed on the empowerment of girls. The achievement of true equality in decision-making will develop in equity in life projects. Gloria, 13, belongs to the Mixe Community of Maluco, a small village in the north of the “Itsmo de Tehuantepec”, Oaxaca Mexico. She lives with her mother and 8 of her 10 siblings who are between 4 and 20 years old. Gloria became mother at the age of 12, a consequence of the constant sexual abuse of her father who has also attacked two of her sisters, aged 8 and 16. Photo by

Photo by / LINK on my profile ⚡️📸👆🏾 talk by Christian Rodríguez that took place in Arusha, Tanzania in 2017 . "If a girl in Latin America get pregnant before she is 15, the probability to have another child before 18 are very high"
In my own experience working on projects with teenage mothers and adolescent pregnancy in Latin America, one of the key for breaking circles of teenage pregnancy is education. The visibility of this issue and the implementation of medium and long term measures are essential to generating a change. More work is needed in the empowerment of girls. The achievement of true equality in decision-making will develop with equity in life projects. Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in Latin America, the second after Honduras and the one with the highest rates of teenage pregnancy. I decided to work with a background that would not show the social context. We could only say that I give some clues when I intentionally fit the background and the type of fabric used. Photo by / LINK in profile ✨📸👆🏾 I am very excited to share my talk that took place in Arusha, Tanzania with TEDGlobal as a member of the TED Fellows class of 2017. "In developing countries, 7.3 million girls under the age of 18, give birth each year.... The patterns of poverty and limited access to education and health care are a common thread among teen pregnancies...Educating girls is key to breaking cycles of teen pregnancy. " Video made in "Complexo do Alemão", Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Brazil could have increased its productivity, up to US $ 3,500 millions if adolescent girls in that country postponed pregnancy until their twenties.(UNFPA ) Photo by /

Photo by / One of the first places I visited and where I was traveling the first 7 months was the region know as the "Isthmus of Tehuantepec" in Oaxaca. I lived in a small city called Matías Romero and traveled to various villages from there. The folk dances in Oaxaca are very diverse and represent each region of the state. The dance of "viejos" (Elder) is a Zapotec custom that dates back to the end of the 19th century. Photo by /
